What is breast augmentation or breast prosthesis placement or silicone breast implant?

Breast augmentation surgery, or breast augmentation, is based on the use of implants to promote or restore breast size.

When is it placed under the muscle and when is it placed under the gland?

When the patient has a very thin skin without much tissue to cover the prosthesis, the best plan is under the muscle and when there is a good amount of tissue and a skin with good thickness, I choose to place it under the gland.

Where are the scars after silicone breast implant surgery?

It depends on where the incision (cut) was made for placement.

It can be in the breast sulcus, Periareolar (a lower half-moon in the areola) or in the axillary region.

Will I have a breastfeeding problem after this breast prosthesis surgery?

The breast prosthesis is placed under the mammary gland or under the muscle, so it does not change breastfeeding.

In relaxation, the sensitivity when placing the implant, some thin nerves can be damaged or become very fractionated, which can lead to loss or decrease of sensitivity, which can be temporary or permanent, remembering that it can occur in any surgery.

What are the risks of this plastic surgery?

Complications in these procedures are not common, but complications such as infections, hematomas can occur as in any other surgery.
